Tenuta Sette Ponti 'Passi di Orma' Bolgheri, Tuscany, Italy 2016

Passi di Orma is the new wine of Orma from Bolgheri, first vintage was produced in 2015. Orma is best known for Oreno (#6 in James Suckling’s Top 100 Italian Wines of 2017) and Orma (#17) taking top places in wine critics’ lists.

As its bigger brothers, the wine is blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc grapes giving this wine distinctive and elegant traits. The grapes, coming from mineral, pebbly soils and with traces of clay, are picked and selected manually. The ageing takes place in French oak barrels.

Beautiful aromas of ripe red fruits, blueberries and blackberries and subtle notes of coffee. Tannins are very gentle and soft tannins. Great first step to the Orma range of wines.

93 points, James Suckling

91 points, Antonio Galloni

90 Points, Monica Larner for Robert Parker - Compared to the preceding vintage, the 2016 Bolgheri Rosso Passi di Orma delivers its primary fruit characteristics in a less obvious manner. There is dark plum and blackberry for sure but the spice, toast and tobacco tones take equal billing. This wine also shows a more robust construction with etched layers of mineral and campfire ash at the back. This vintage shows superior focus and definition.
