Robert Parker-Wine Advocate: "This is a massive wine that smiles bright with Tuscan sunshine.: Monica Lerner, 93/100 points
James Suckling: Plenty of blueberry, chocolate and light toasted oak character. Smoky meat, too. Full body, chewy tannins and a flavorful finish. 93/100 points
Wine Spectator: Dense and tightly wound, with a beam of black cherry and blueberry fruit. Cedar, smoke, tar and tobacco notes add nuance, giving this a complex impression overall. Balanced and long, with a compact finish that should expand as this integrates more fully. 94/100 points

Maremma Tuscany.jpg

Maremma is an appellation in the coastal side of Tuscany covering a wide array of wine styles. The Tuscan coast is the birthplace of "Super Tuscans" wines, a movement that started as a hobby in 1948 with the planting of Cabernet Sauvignon by Tenuta San Guido and followed by now world renowned Sassicaia. Within a few years these wines have been more popular than other Tuscan reds. Small production but high profile, they re-established Italy's reputation for excellence. Today, hundreds of producers make prestigious wines from International grape varieties Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah blends. And finally Maremma was officially promoted to DOC status in September 2011, after 16 years as an IGT title.
