AWARDS AND REVIEWS

93 points, Monica Lerner , Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - Created by the same folks behind Tuscany's legendary Sassicaia, this is an all-Sardinian blend of 85% Carignano, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Merlot. The 2013 Barrua is a beautifully balanced and seamless expression with dark fruit aromas that flow effortlessly from the bouquet. Those tones of blackberry, prune and dried fig segue to spice, tar, licorice and black olive. This vintage really works in terms of the intensity and the precision of the bouquet. The tannins are integrated, and the wine is layered and long-lasting.

93 points James Suckling "Lovely precision to this red with berries, nutmeg and hints of stones. Subtle dried meat, too. Medium body, pretty texture and a refined finish. Always excellent".

Giacomo Tachis

Agricola Punica was founded in 2002 as a joint venture between the Tenuta San Guido Sassicaia Group, Sardinian winery Cantina di Santadi and the legendary Tuscan consulting oenologist Giacomo Tachis (who recently passed away) seeing the great potential in the region.

The mission of Agripunica was to produce the finest wines taking advantage of the local Sardinian varietal Carignano in blend with some other Bordeaux wines, of which Tachis was a master winemaker.

With these ideas in mind, Tachis in 2002 made the first red for Agripunica, Barrua, followed three years later by the second label Montessu.

The two “jewels” wisely blended were soon recognized as excellent products, gaining several awards worldwide since the beginning. Once more, Giacomo Tachis have had the right vision and his wines, with a distiguish style and identity, will always tell a story anytime poured and savoured in the glass!
